Good news for MediSpa goers, as plans to make injectable anti-ageing treatments safer are being given the go-ahead by a new government-backed scheme, the Treatments You Can Trust register.
The new register of responsible practitioners has been set up to protect anyone who has Botox or Dermal fillers in the UK. According to the Independent Healthcare Advisory Service, patients are at risk from unqualified providers offering anti-ageing injectable treatments without having the correct training. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the amount of people opting for anti-ageing treatments such as Botox, with around one million patients using this form of treatment.
The IHAS Register will background screen and register Quality Assurance Mark approval for regulated healthcare professionals (doctors, registered nurses and dentists), organisations, and facilities involved in injectable cosmetics.
Eventually, IHAS would like anyone offering anti-ageing treatments to be registered on the list, and urges any member of the public considering such a procedure to consult the list before choosing a clinic.
Admittedly, the list will not see a complete end to rogue practitioners, but it could be a good start to making anti-ageing treatments safer and more reliable. So, if you’re thinking of taking the plunge, perhaps check the register first.
